Turmeric is mostly known for its “anti-agent” properties- antioxidant, antiseptic, antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antimutagenic, antimicrobial, antitumor, and anticancer. Although we like to see herbs more so as assisting these bodily defense responses versus suppressing them. Turmeric helps to protect the heart, lungs, kidneys and assists in protecting the body from radiation exposure. Combining turmeric with foods has also been shown to assist and effectively improve the digestion of foods.

Shepherd’s Purse & Yarrow Tincture
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) known to be a hemostatic (stops bleeding) and an antiseptic for both external and internal wounds and bleeding (including excessive menstrual flow).
Shepherd’s Purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris) is a very powerful styptic and one that I use regularly for women who suffer from flooding during their periods. As a postpartum herb, it can be useful for postpartum hemorrhage.
